Samsung has announced that it will not be holding any press conferences at Mobile World Congress this year.
While it had already been made clear that the Samsung Galaxy S III won’t be making an appearance at MWC, the belief had been that Samsung would still hold some form of press event.. Talking with PC Mag, the Korean manufacturer has now stated that it will be passing on the idea of a press conference all together. The company will still have a booth at the show where it can present it’s latest mobile goods, but it will be done so via one-on-one press briefings instead.
There seems to be a definite growing trend amongst companies to hold their own individual press events through out the year as opposed to on the annual conferences like CES and MWC, and that has to make one wonder how much longer will we see large trade shows such as those. Of course, when the press eventually get fatigued from jumping from focused press event to focused press event, that might also have some say in how long this trend lasts.
