It was announced during CES that Sony’s Zipper Interactive will be bringing future PlayStation Vita owners Unit 13 on March 6th of this year.

The exact Tweet from Sony’s official PlayStation Twitter account:

Just announced at CES: Unit 13 for PS Vita will be available on March 6, 2012.

Unit 13 is set to be one of the first major shooter titles to release on the PS Vita following its North American launch date of February 22nd, 2012. Its creators, Zipper Interactive, are the well known studio responsible for both the SOCOM series and MAG on the PlayStation 3.

Kotaku recently previewed Unit 13 and said that it “Proves That the PlayStation Vita Can Deliver a Full-Console Experience in the Palms of Your Hands…” They indicated that the game will not feature a story; instead, it will offer 36 independent missions that will play anywhere from roughly five to 25 minutes in length.

Despite the apparent quality being offered up by Zipper Interactive in Unit 13, I’ll admit that I haven’t heard too much about this title until today. Sony’s PS Vita launch seems to be bannered by games like Uncharted: Golden Abyss and ModNation Racers: Road Trip; Unit 13 hasn’t honestly popped up around me in conversation.

However, after seeing it in motion and hearing that it’s being developed by Zipper Interactive, consider my interest officially piqued. How about you folks; does Unit 13 whet your appetite for gaming on the PS Vita?
