Jonathan Ive is rumored to have an Apple-branded HDTV hanging out in his office. According to a USA Today source who worked at Apple, Apple’s head of design is sitting on a 50-inch iTV that is likely to hit the market later this year.
The company has been rumored to be working on a “42-inch or larger” HDTV for some time. The television is expected to integrate many of the elements of Apple’s set-top box, Apple TV, into an actual high-definition television.
The television is also rumored to be controlled different from other TVs on the market, possibly using Siri-like voice controls. The TV will also work seamlessly along with current Apple products, such as the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
Rumors of an Apple-branded television began to circulate earlier this year with the release of Steve Jobs’ biography. In the biography, Jobs said he had discovered the secret to creating an integrated and easy-to-use television, and that the TV “will have the simplest user interface you could imagine.”
Do you think there’s really an iTV hanging out in Ive’s office? What sort of feature do you hope to see in an Apple-branded TV if the company does decide to release one?
