This Christmas is set to be a special one for Google employees, who will receive a customized Samsung Galaxy Nexus as a holiday treat. The new Android handset, which is the first to ship with the company’s latest Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, will reportedly be handed out as a Christmas “thank you” to all employees.
It’s not any old Galaxy Nexus handset, either. This one will feature a customized rear panel that is decorated with various icons from the Android OS, and from Google+, the search giant’s new social network — which is likely to be exclusive to Google employees. Though we wouldn’t be surprised if a least a few of these pop up on eBay shortly after the festive period.
The Next Web has confirmed that employees at Google’s London and Zurich offices have been asked staff to line up and collect their free handset. Google employee Edu Pereda, a software engineer at the company’s Swiss office, posted the photo below to Google+ which shows one of the queues.
It seems like a pretty good day to be a Google employee. I can’t imagine many other tech companies will be giving gifts as good as this.
What did you get for Christmas from your employer?
