Markus “Notch” Persson took to the stage today in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center for the inaugural MineCon event to officially remove the “beta” label from his popular Minecraft game.

The sold out event of nearly 5,000 dedicated Minecraft players warmly welcomed Notch as he took to the stage to throw the lever, officially releasing Minecraft 1.0.
