Telus subscribers in Canada were teased by the possibility of getting the Samsung Hercules back in August, after MobileSyrup spotted the device at a Samsung event. The site has now confirmed in a hands-on video that the Hercules — also known as the Galaxy S II X — is an “upcoming” Telus handset.

MobileSyrup previously described the device as ”a cross between the Samsung Galaxy S II, the Nexus S, and the Galaxy S Infuse,” but all we really knew for certain was that it was called the Hercules. Thanks to the hands-on video above, we now know it runs Android 2.3.5, has NFC capabilities, and what’s inside this stunning device:

Samsung Galaxy S II X Specs

  • Android 2.3.5
  • TouchWiz UI
  • 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display
  • 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor
  • 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with 1080p video recording
  • 2-megapixel front-facing camera
  • NFC capabilities
  • 1,850mAh battery

That’s what we know about its internals at this point, but according to the video, its external improvements are also something to get excited about. It sports a chrome band around the edge of the device and a new backing that has a “leather feel.” These are improvements which seem to make device “a little bit more elegant then all the other Samsung Galaxy S devices.”

Although I’m an iOS fan and a user of the iPhone 4, I’ve been fighting off the urge to purchase a Samsung Galaxy S II for some time now. I’m not so confident, however, that I’ll be able to stop myself from snapping up the Galaxy S II X if it arrives in the U.K. This thing looks amazing!

What do you think of the Galaxy S II X?
