Despite the lackluster response to the Dell Adamo, it doesn’t appear that the popular computer maker is quite ready to give up on taking on Apple’s MacBook Air. Rumors started circulating last week that Dell was working on a new ultra-thin laptop, but about the only things anyone seemed to be able to agree upon was that it would have a 15.6-inch screen and would be released in the coming weeks for under $1,000.
Dell’s previous foray into this market sector, the Adamo, was was widely criticized for being both overpriced and underpowered, and while we don’t have any hard facts as of yet, if these rumors prove to be true, it sounds like the company is on the right track this time around.
Adding fuel to the fire that something is indeed going on is the picture you see to the right that showed up in our inbox today from Dell. The only additional information was a tagline that said, “You asked for it…we delivered.” They said it was a sneak peek of a new ultra-thin, ultra-powerful laptop, and that we should stay tuned for more details.
We’re not sure how long we’re supposed to stay tuned, when this will launch, or even what its name is – the image file was even named “noname.png” – so you now know as much as we do. We suspect it is some sort of follow up to the Adamo, but perhaps they will change names as the last one did not do well and they may want to distance themselves from it.
We’ll be sure to bring you all of the details as we get them because we’re just as curious as you’re sure to be.
