Is Apple Testing the iPhone for T-Mobile?

Could the iPhone be headed to T-Mobile? Boy Genius has gotten its hands on photos of an iPhone prototype running on T-Mobile. The phone’s internal model number is N94 (Verizon is N92, and AT&T is N90), is running a test version of iOS, similar to the one in the leaked iPhone video from last week.
The iPhone is currently only available in the US on Verizon and AT&T. Apple may be testing the handset on T-Mobile network in preparation of launching it on the network, or simply to see how the phone might do should the AT&T/T-Mobile merger go through.
